NOTES FROM THE STUDIES
Retatrutide Phase 2 studies found weight and liver changes.
Here is who took part, what changed, and what doctors still do not know.
- Can you get retatrutide by prescription?
-
Retatrutide is investigational; telehealth cannot prescribe it. Promise Peptides does not offer retatrutide, but now prescribes compounded tirzepatide as prescription-only care at mypromise.com.
The clinician holds a U.S. license, assesses the individual case, and can refuse to prescribe.
The service accepts U.S. patients only; their state and chosen treatment determine the options.
Compounded tirzepatide lacks FDA approval; FDA-approved tirzepatide exists.

Tests of retatrutide are still underway
Less hunger may be the first thing a person feels. Eli Lilly is testing retatrutide. No country has approved the drug. It copies three hormones made by the body. Together, they affect hunger, insulin, and liver fat.
A Phase 2 study was an early test in people. It followed adults with obesity for a 48-week span. Doctors call the copied hunger hormone GLP-1. At the highest dose, average body weight fell 24.2%. A second study checked people with fatty liver disease. Their liver fat fell 82.4% at 24 weeks. In that group, 86% reached a normal amount.
You can't fill a retatrutide prescription today. A pharmacy can't fill one either. Larger Phase 3 studies were running in 2026. Their results were not ready. Personal stories may sound vivid. The watched studies give the sounder facts.
Keep the lack of approval in mind when sales claims appear.
Retatrutide studies included adults with weight problems
Retatrutide is a drug made in a lab. Its small parts are like those found in protein. Retatrutide mimics the work of three hormones. Doctors call the hunger hormone GLP-1. Each message starts a different job in the body. Doctors are testing effects on hunger, sugar, and liver fat.
Researchers enrolled 338 adults in the Phase 2 obesity study. Each person's weight was high for his or her height. The measure was 30 or more. Some had a measure from 27 to under 30. They also had a health problem tied to weight. Each person received a shot beneath the skin each week. The study used 1, 4, 8, or 12 mg. Others got a placebo, a shot with no retatrutide. The study ran 48 weeks. With 12 mg, average weight fell 24.2%. The placebo group lost 2.1% [1]. Larger amounts brought larger changes.
Another Phase 2 study followed 281 adults with type 2 diabetes. After 36 weeks at 12 mg, their long-term sugar test fell 2.02 points. It changed 0.01 points with placebo. Body weight fell 16.94%, versus 3.00% with placebo [2]. No one had a severe sugar drop. There were no deaths.
A third Phase 2 study followed ninety-eight people with fatty liver disease. Their scans showed at least 10% liver fat. The study ran 48 weeks. At 24 weeks, liver fat fell 42.9%, 57.0%, 81.4%, and 82.4%. Those results came from the 1, 4, 8, and 12 mg groups. The placebo group rose 0.3%. At 48 weeks, the 12 mg group was down 86.0% [5]. A review found an 81% gap from placebo. That was its largest gap. Semaglutide had 41%. Tirzepatide had 47% [7].
An earlier study included 72 adults with type 2 diabetes. Retatrutide stayed in their blood about 6 days. Over 12 weeks, the top group lost 8.96 kg more than placebo [4].
The hunger hormone also slows the stomach. These findings describe the people in the studies. They aren't care steps for you. The full Retatrutide research notes cover work from 2024-2025. Your doctor can compare those findings with your health.
Bring the study dates when you see your doctor.
Retatrutide changed hunger, sugar, and liver fat
Retatrutide copies parts of three hormones. The first hormone, called GLP-1, curbs hunger. It also keeps food in the stomach longer. The second helps the body release insulin as sugar rises. The third helps the body spend stored energy. It may also help the liver use stored fat.
A 2025 review covered Phase 1 and 2 studies. Those were early tests in people. It found weight loss of up to 24% [6]. In cells in a dish, the drug started all three hormone jobs [3]. The tests measured how much drug each job needed. All three parts worked, but at different amounts.
That mix may help explain the study results. It can't give your likely weight change. Read how does retatrutide work for each hormone's job.
Your blood tests show what is happening in your body.
Retatrutide has no FDA approval
The FDA hasn't approved retatrutide. No other drug agency had approved it by mid-2026. Eli Lilly was still running Phase 3 trials. These larger studies cover obesity and type 2 diabetes. They also watch for heart and kidney harm. The company hadn't asked the FDA to approve the drug.
Phase 2 results are public. Phase 3 work is still underway. No Phase 3 filing date is set. The FDA can't give a review date before a filing arrives.
Semaglutide and tirzepatide are approved drugs. Retatrutide isn't. Anything sold under that name hasn't passed the same checks. No study clinic is watching its use.
For you, approval means a checked drug with clear directions.
Only trials provide retatrutide with medical care
A pharmacy can't fill a retatrutide prescription. The lawful route is an active clinical trial. Phase 3 studies include heart and kidney checks.
Some sellers offer bottles marked for research. In 2025, the FDA mailed sellers over 50 warning letters. No drug agency has checked those bottles for contents or germs. A clinic isn't watching the person who uses one. This site doesn't sell them or send you to sellers.
A trial team can explain who may join safely.
No retatrutide approval date exists
By mid-2026, Eli Lilly hadn't given an approval date. Its Phase 3 trials were still running. Phase 3 results were not ready. The results weren't ready. The company would first have to file with the FDA. If the FDA accepts a filing, a standard review often takes 10 to 12 months. No filing had been announced.
Dates in forums aren't company filing dates. Your doctor or the FDA can confirm a later update.
A news report may guess before the FDA decides.
